A transparent, open, and permeable education structure: ITU Faculty of Business Administration
A contemporary university environment must have a setup that will support the uninterrupted and organic character of the learning process. In this context, the environment is handled in a way that has a common ‘living space’ atmosphere for both students, faculty members, and researchers. Transparent, clear, permeable; an atmosphere that allows encounters and coming together… An educational structure that offers a variety of interactive ‘common living’ spaces with its horizontal and vertical dynamic structure, pioneering movement, and social relations…
A ‘service’ mass is placed on the axis of the building, which can be perceived from the inside and outside and has a strong tectonic effect. The ‘service’ mass, which includes horizontal and vertical circulation elements, is conceived as a ‘threshold’ that both divides and unites with the outer shell surfaces. It provides an environment for watching and being watched. To utilize circulation spaces as a transition and interface, their surfaces are transformed into digital media walls. While animating the wide and high interior space created, ‘Media wall’ provides the transformation of data on different subjects into visual, artistic, entertaining, and instructive experiences in an interactive way, with algorithms to be developed by students and constantly renewed content, as a representation of science and technology. The ‘media wall’ gives the opportunity to slow down, stop, look, think, encounter, and experience.
