Quadratura Circuli, or quadrature of the circle, is a mathematical expression in the search for the mysterious number “π” (pi) which calculates the area of the circle from a square. On the other hand, in ancient philosophy, it is about the quest to reach the divine, in a metaphorical sense. The circle is infinite; it is divine and celestial and the square is earthly and material. The human also squares the circle in its essence by humane actions. Experience of Quadratura Circuli is the journey of Mimar Sinan, who dedicates his life to integrate square and circle; From square to circle, from cube to the dome, to reach “perfection”.
