Besides its military and political consequences, The Korean War led to the establishment of today’s modern Korea; it has also been instrumental in a brand new and eternal climate of friendship and cultural rapprochement between two countries: Turkey and Korea.
The design of the ‘Korean War Memorial Site’, aims to create a concept that expresses the unification of the destinies of the two countries due to this war, their coming together for peace and eternal friendship.
By abstracting elements that are symbols of the cultures of these countries; the ying-yang form for Korea and the crescent form for Turkey, are integrated within each other to create. It was planned to create an intertwined composition… It is aimed to eternalize this unity with a dynamic composition in which the ying-yang form turns into a crescent, the crescent into ying-yang, thus the symbols fuse and produce each other, that exhibits the war memories within this intertwined form.
